Ray 240's with early software may not properly go into sleep mode when powered down fom thier handset. As a result their DSC watch receiver may sound the alarm for alerts received while the radio is in standby. We have issued a software update, version 2.18 that corrects this issue. Due to the specialized programming hardware required to update this radio, you should contact a local repair dealer or the Raymarine factory service center to have this installed.
The installed software version is reported on the LCD screen when the system is powered on from the boat's curcuit breaker panel.
Like many other modern consumer electronics the Ray 240 is "always on." The Ray 240 radio by design relies on the boat's circuit breaker panel as its main power switch.
Whenever power is being fed to its transceiver unit from the boats power system the transceiver is in a low power stand-by mode. From either of the Ray 240's handsets you can turn the system on, or return it to its low-power stand-by mode when it is not being used by pressing and holding the "16/9" button.
If you are leaving the boat unattended for any length of time it is a good idea to turn the power to the radio off at the breaker panel to prevent any unnecessary drain on the boat's batteries.
